U-Haul Investors Club

Task

Design a site that allows qualified candidates to join, fund their account with money from an existing bank account, use those funds to invest in U-Haul assets and track the progess of those investments.

Approach

Focused on making this complex and uncommon investment method approachable for the casual investor.

In addition, designed an accompanying intranet application allowing administrators to manage invest offerings and members.

U-Haul gift certificates

Task

Re-design the the previous U-Haul gift certificate section.

Approach

Treat gift certificates like any other product on the site. Layout changed using HTML/CSS to apply product template. Product image created from scratch.

Live chat

Task

Re-design the previous U-Haul live chat.

Approach

Layout changed using HTML/CSS, name changed and automated responses edited.

U-Box error page

Task

Design a page that communicates to the customer that their location falls outside a designated coverage area and replace the previous U-Box error page.

Approach

What if we treated this like an opportunity rather than a dead end? Removed all error related text and added a form for requesting custom rate quotes. Created using HTML/CSS.

Re-design the the previous U-Haul dealer opportunity page.

Layout changed using HTML/CSS, text and contact fom simplified.

U-Haul propane

Task

Re-design the the previous U-Haul propane section.

Approach

Propane rates and products linked to individual locations. Work done with HTML/CSS.

Slideshow

Task

Improve the usability of the previous U-Haul slideshow.

Approach

Layout changed using HTML/CSS, two methods of navigation created and image inventory added.

U-Haul rental checkout form

Task

Decrease the drop-off rate of the previous U-Haul equipment rental checkout form.

Approach

Layout changed using HTML/CSS, explanatory text added to all sections, error messages re-written/expanded upon, unnecessary inputs removed, and page security highlighted.

U-Haul trailer hitches

Task

Re-design the the previous U-Haul trailer hitch buying process.

Approach

Consolidated multiple pages, created a hot-spot graphic to highlight parts and accessories and packaged multiple hitch parts into a single package. Work done with HTML/CSS.

U-Haul moving supplies upsell

Task

Improve the conversion rate of the previous U-Haul moving supplies upsell page.

Approach

Layout changed using HTML/CSS and process simplified by removing shipping/pick up from the page.

Spina Bifida Association of Arizona

Task

Apply the Spina Bifida Association of America's website template to the Arizona chapter's previous website.

Approach

Removed the table structure from the existing template, creating a CSS based layout. Applied the new template using PHP/CSS to the Spina Bifida Association of Arizona's website and am currently offering the template to all chapters.

File share application

Task

Design a filing sharing tool to be used by U-Haul employees.

Approach

Created a design using HTML/CSS that would provide all U-Haul employees the ability to upload, tag, browse and share files with some or all other employees.

U Car Share

Task

Re-design the previous U Car Share website with an eye toward better communicating the product and improving usability.

Approach

Wrote and edited web copy pertaining to the product and enrollment process. Created a design using HTML/CSS that simplifies the previous marketing message and provides customers with a clear path to sign-up and car reservations.

AMERCO Real Estate Company

Task

Re-design the previous AMERCO Real Estate Company website.

Approach

Re-designed and re-branded the previous website creating a harmony with branding set forth by parent company, AMERCO.

In addition, designed an administrative intranet application allowing content owners to manage listed properties.

Survey tool

Task

Design a survey tool to be used by U-Haul employees to survey both internal and external audiences.

Approach

Created a design using HTML/CSS that allows for the creation of surveys with various question types, numerous skins for different audiences and a reporting tool for viewing survey results.

U-Haul self-storage

Task

Increase online self-storage reservations through a re-design of the previous U-Haul self-storage website.

Approach

Created a design using HTML/CSS that incorporated rates into search results eliminating a step in the reservation process and making it easier for customers to browse and compare rates.

Purchase request application

Task

Create a paperless version of existing purchase request process.

Approach

Created a design using HTML/CSS that created different views for three distinct user groups: requesters, buyers and approvers. Each group was given user-specific functionality and all were able to track their requests through the approval/buying process online.

eMove

Task

Design a replacement for the previous eMove website, that creates a 50/50 split between the two remaining domain stakeholders.

Approach

Designed a landing page using HTML/CSS with an even split of content and links to assist in traffic tracking and aid the decision to eventually remove one of the stakeholders.

U.S. Government Printing Office

Task

Re-design and re-code the previous U.S. Government Printing Office website.

Approach

Worked closely with the brand identity manager and content owners to create a website design using PHP/HTML/CSS that followed agency branding guidelines, spoke to four distinct audiences and was accessible.

U.S. Commission on Civil Rights

Task

Re-design and re-code the previous U.S. Commission on Civil Rights website.

Approach

Developed a site architecture that was more accessible to the target audience and created a website design using PHP/HTML/CSS that removed the frame structure of the previous site.

Re-design and re-code the previous U.S. Department Of Veterans Affairs Office of Inspector General website.

Worked closely with the brand identity manager and content owners to create a website design using PHP/HTML/CSS that followed agency branding guidelines and was accessible.

Re-design and re-code the previous U.S. Interagency Council on Homelessness website.

Developed a site architecture that was more accessible to the target audience and created a website design using HTML/CSS.

Mammals and their Habitats

Task

Design a website that combined content from four books of the True Book Series, Mammals and their Habitats.

Approach

Designed a colorful and image-heavy site using HTML/CSS that was easy for children of all ages to navigate and contained content identical to that found in the series.
